Generally, the age of a particular piece of furniture is very important in determining its value. There are various periods of furniture, some of which are ridiculously expensive. The most notable among these are Gregorian and Victorian. Chinese antique furniture items are also in high demand. The intricate woodwork on the table legs, chair backs etc. make them more desirable, and therefore, more pricey. The types of wood that are most favored are mahogany, teak and rosewood.
