Christie’s Auctions Antique Jewels

Christie’s, one of the foremost auction houses in London recently auctioned off some antique jewels that were discovered in the palace of an Indian king when the erstwhile English East India Company plundered his palace, almost 220 years back. The jewels, believed to be a gift from Egypt to the forefathers of the king had intricate carvings, the likes of which have been seen in the tomb of Tutankhamen which had similar jewelry designs. The jewels fetched a combined sum of nearly £ 35 million and it is being said that the money obtained from the auction will be given to charity.
