People art auctions feature a large range of objects that reflect the artist's craft traditions, and standard social values. People art is often produced by folk who've minimal educational artistic coaching. People artists typically use established strategies and styles of a selected area or culture. People art auctions include paintings, sculptures and other ornamental art forms. Some artists also consider practical objects like tools and costumes as people art.
Generally, the class of folks art auctions exclude works by pro artists. It's been my experience that people art auctions have something for almost anyone. I found a people art painting of a pussy in a peach tree that was done by the artist Tascha. The artist also noted on the people art auction that they create unique ceramic tile art. My ma bought a blanket chest for me years back that I listed lately in a people art auction. The chest was made about 200 hears back and is very gorgeous. The first painted decorations are still intact. I found an engaging people art auction for a carnival knock-down dummy in the form of a big moggy. It was made around 1930 and is twice the dimensions of similar items. I analyzed the item on a non-auction site and found it's worth serious money. My heart is still swayed by Americana folks art auctions. I latterly fell madly in love with a painting I found up for auction of Elvis on a Harley in front of a huge American flag.
It was spectacular! The stretched canvas was painted with acrylics. I particularly like the Halloween themed people art auction I revealed that was offered by Sister Raya New Orleans Folks Art. The title of the painting was Little Scary the Kitty waiting for the Great Pumpkin. The painting was painted in classic vintage style and used gold maple, red sapphire, blue pearl, white, pumpkin orange, sable brown, amber rust and jet black. I might like to have this hanging on my wall all thru the autumn months. Another folks art auction that I found and was unhappy to bid up past my budget was a hand-crafted set of tiny dominos.
The set was in a people art decorated maple case. The set dates back to the middle to late 1800's. It was truly wonderful and I am sorry that I missed out on it. I actually liked another folks art auction that I found for a modern fraktur. A fraktur is a particular sort of Pennsylvania German people art. The fraktur I found was a watercolor of a wedding record. It was very colourful and looked like it held awfully special importance to its original owners. I found a wood box from Maine in a folks art auction that really appealed to me. It was rather little, but was painted chrome yellow and was trimmed in forest green. The paint was crazed and worn and that was made in the latter nineteenth century.
There were not any observable nails and the hardware was reported as looking original. The folks art auction that I missed out on that was way out of my price bracket was for an Andrew Clemens sand bottle. The sand bottle was date 1887 and was covered in patriotic decorations. It was an apothecary style bottle with a stopper and it contained at least 10 different colours of sand.
The bottle ended up selling for 80 500 greenbacks. My opinion is that it has ended up in a wonderful collection of people art. I found a comical folks art auction for 3 wooden carvings. The name of the piece was 3 Articulating People Art Whimseys and were all manufactured by the same artist. The carvings were accented with sheet metal ties. The 1st carving in the people art auction was of a cobbler, a blacksmith and a man with a mule. The second carving was a small infantryman and the 3rd was a cobbler smoking a pipe. I suspect this piece of Americana was acquired at a low cost of 3000 greenbacks and was worth much more.
